Join the Mission Outreach Groups

of Second Baptist Church:

“Becoming the Hands and Feet of Christ in the World”

 

            St. Louis Jazz and Blues Vespers … this group hosts the vespers on the 3rd Sunday evening of each month featuring the best of jazz and blues groups in St. Louis performing their favorite songs in the acoustically excellent Sanctuary of the Beatitudes.

            Burma Refugee Team … this group of volunteers actively supports our Karen participants with help in language, furnishings, transportation, banking, food stamps, everything necessary to live well in St. Louis.

            American Baptist Women … this group meets twice a month on Tuesdays and sponsors many hands-on projects to help others in need

            Second Baptist Peacemakers … this group is related to the Baptist Peace Fellowship of North America and advocates for peace and justice in St. Louis around the world.

            SBC Hospitality Team…this group coordinates our inviting and welcoming new persons to SBC.

            Prostate Cancer Support Group … Ably hosted by Bill Gurley, a support group that gathers monthly in our facility.

            John Mason Peck Walk in the Woods … this group is studying the possibility of creating a permanent outdoor display of Peck’s inspiring life on our church grounds.

            Habitat for Humanity Partners … volunteers work 1-2 Saturdays a year with St. Louis Habitat for Humanity rebuilding homes for families in need

            Churches Supporting Churches in New Orleans…This is a partnership with Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church in New Orleans that was heavily flooded by hurricane Katrina.  A first mission trip occurred in 2008 and another is proposed.

            International Welcome School Tutors…volunteers from our church tutor immigrant children in this St. Louis school that specializes in helping newly-arriving children learn English and classroom skills.
